About Us

Renters Outlet LLC was founded in 2011, when itsBroker and ownerSteve McFarlan, realized there was a need for a smaller and more personal residential property management company. After working many years for what Steve considers one of the biggest of the "big box" management companies, Steve decided that the time was right to start anewand more personal residential property management company. Renters Outlet specializes in the Dakota and Scott County area, and all of our agents reside in Dakota and Scott Counties. We have little to nointerest in becoming one of the "Big Box" management companies, as weare completely focused on providing the highest possible level of customer service to our clients.

  Steve grew up in West Bloomington, and was a member of the first graduating class of Jefferson Senior High 1971. After high school Steve attended Hennepin Technical Center in Eden Prairie, and spent the next 25 years selling for the printing industry to advertising agencies and corporate clients. In 2001 Steve obtained his real estate license, and started out with one of the largest brokerages in the Twin Cities area.

  
  

  Steve has been married to his beautiful wife Pam for 40 years, has 2 children; Megan and Matt, and 4 grandchildren; Liam, Lincoln, Leland, and Luca. Steve and his entire family attend Christ Presbyterian Church, and enjoy spending as much time together as possible.

  
  

  In 2006 by accident, Steve met the owner of what is now the 2nd largest property management company in the Twin Cities, and was hired as his very first agent. The next 6 years were spent learning every aspect of the leasing and property management business.

  
  

  In 2011 Steve decided that there was a need for a smaller property management company, that could provide more personal customer service, and worked exclusively in Dakota and Scott Counties. With that objective, a company called Renters Outlet, LLC was formed.

  Matt grew up in the Burnsville/Apple Valley area and got his start in property management in 2011 when he joined Renters' Outlet after receiving his Realtor's license. As co-owner, he enjoys working one on one with his clients to achieve their investment property dreams.

• MEGAN HANSON

  Megan is a new addition to the Renters Outlet team! She is currently our Office Administrator and takes care of the day to day logistics.

  
  

  Megan graduated from the University of St.Thomas in Business Management and enjoyed a career of project management, buying based roles. When she and her husband, Jon, decided to have a family, she chose to stay home. Now that her 4 boys are growing and getting ready for school, she has enjoyed reentering the workforce in a flexible and family friendly company where she can use her organizational and project management skills.
